Rice sophomore Daisy Ding became the first female athlete in school history to be awarded the Conference USA Female Athlete of the Year award, the league office announced Friday afternoon.

National champion Anthony Rotich of UTEP claimed the Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Year after winning back-to-back-to-back titles in the NCAA 3,000m steeplechase.

Samantha Hall notched a throw of 52.15m (171-1) to earn a 13th-place finish in the discus throw at the NCAA Championships. The junior will be named a Second Team All-American for her performance.
