The North Texas cross country teams had a strong start to the season as the men’s team came in first and the women placed third at the Bear Twilight Invitational Tuesday night.

The Tulane University men’s cross country team received regional recognition as the Green Wave were ranked 15th in the South Central Region in a preseason poll released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The North Texas men’s and women’s cross country teams will open the 2015 campaign under the lights at the Bear Twilight Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 1 starting at 7 p.m.

Former Southern Miss track and field All-American Tori Bowie turned in a time of 10.86 in the 100 meters at the IAAF World Championships on Monday in claiming a Bronze medal.
