Rice junior track and field athlete Scott Filip will enter Sunday in sixth place in the decathlon at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials after racking up 4,180 points Saturday in his first career Olympic Trials.
Former Rice Owl All-American track and field athlete Funmi Jimoh (Rice, 2007) qualified for the finals of the long jump at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials on Friday.
The U.S. Olympic Team Trials returns to the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field this week from June 30-July 10 where current and former Owls will be vying for Team USA selections for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
