Curt Kraft was named Southeast Region Women's Coach of the Year for the first time in his career by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) it was announced Monday.

East Carolina turned in several strong performances at the NCAA East Regional as a program-best 10 Pirates qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships

The East Carolina track and field team had six student-athletes turn in qualifying times during the preliminaries of the NCAA East Regional.

Johnson has collected the honor for the second consecutive time after being named to the team in 2013.

The Pirates head to the East Regional which is hosted by North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. The preliminary championship competitions will be held Thursday, May 29 - Saturday, May 31.

East Carolina's Kayla Padgett was named Women's Field Performer of the Meet after her performance at the 2014 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Houston, Texas.

The East Carolina women's track and field team won its first-ever Conference USA Outdoor title after tallying 140 points, while the men's squad placed third.

The Pirates set two more school records and won three individual titles on Saturday. East Carolina has now won five total events at the C-USA Championships.

East Carolina set school records in both the decathlon and heptathlon and came away with a pair first place finishes in the hammer.
